Do you want a successful orthodontic journey with Invisalign®? If so, our orthodontist, Dr. Lee A. Mahlmann, encourages you to follow the necessary instructions. One instruction is to take good care of your aligner. If you keep your aligner in tip-top shape, there is a good chance you can prevent orthodontic and dental problems. So, to help you take care of your Invisalign aligner in Richmond, Texas, please follow these instructions:
-Rinse your aligner every time you take it out of your mouth. You can do so by running it under warm water. Never use hot water because it can warp and melt the plastic.
-Soak your aligner regularly in denture cleaner or in the specialized cleaning crystals.
-Brush your aligner when you brush your teeth every morning and night. However, instead of putting toothpaste on your soft-bristled toothbrush, put clear, unscented, antibacterial soap. This will help kill bacteria on your appliance. Don’t brush too hard or it can scratch the aligner.
-Clean your teeth after each time you eat. You can do so by brushing and flossing. This is important because the aligner will trap food particles and bacteria around your teeth. This can promote dental issues. If you clean your teeth regularly, there is a reduced chance of this happening.
